report<\/strong> it to their employees.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reasons behind this are &#8211;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>25%<\/strong> didn\u2019t do so because of <strong>fear of losing their job.<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>57%<\/strong> hadn&#8217;t reported it because it would <strong>hurt their relationships<\/strong> at work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>44%<\/strong> didn&#8217;t report because of fear of <strong>negatively impacting their career<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1 in 4 didn\u2019t <\/strong>do so because <strong>it would have divulged their sexual identity<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Talking about LGBT women, they are &#8211;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>More likely to report unwanted touching<\/strong>. 35% of women do so compared to 16% of men.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2x more likely to report sexual assault<\/strong> (21% of women in comparison to 12% of men).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2x more likely to face serious sexual assault or rape<\/strong>. Even the percentage of reported cases between men and women are also different. [8]&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the repercussions extend far beyond career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Employees who undergo such harassment are more likely to report increased <strong>financial stress<\/strong>, <strong>diminished job satisfaction<\/strong>, and an increased <strong>likelihood of resigning<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>31%<\/strong> even report feeling <strong>anxious and depressed<\/strong>. Sometimes, they <strong>leave their houses<\/strong>, <strong>abandon hobbies<\/strong> and <strong>stop interacting<\/strong> with their community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the percentage of employees experiencing these ramifications varies. A rundown of those reasons are &#8211;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>40% didn\u2019t want to be labelled a troublemaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>18% were afraid to lose their job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>22% reported that it was their word against the harasser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Others didn\u2019t believe in HR. 80% of those employees who filed a sexual harassment claim said that their situation did not change. For 16%, the situation worsened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This makes 39% of employees feel their issues will not be addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>46% fear potential retaliation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sometimes, the owners and higher authority people do the same thing, making victims assume it is normal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"do-employees-feel-heard-when-they-report-sexual-harassment\">Do Employees Feel Heard When They Report Sexual Harassment?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>27%<\/strong> of those who reported sexual harassment said they <strong>didn&#8217;t know if it was ever investigated<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>53% of men and only 30% of women agreed that their employer handled the incident properly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Of those who reported, 76% said the issue was resolved, <strong>26.29%<\/strong> said the <strong>person stopped<\/strong> the harassment, and <strong>21% said the person was fired<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"do-harassers-at-the-workplace-get-punished\">Do Harassers At the Workplace Get Punished?&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, there is no one-word answer for this. In some cases, they get punished; in others, the victim gets punished &#8211; of course, not directly.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then how?
